2024 Virtual Retreat - ENRICH, IMPaCT, and CAIRE
The 2024 Fall Virtual Retreat, co-hosted by ENRICH, IMPaCT and CAIRE, is a two-day event intended to bring learners and mentors together from the perinatal and child health research communities, with a focus on building research capacity. The first day will focus on approaches to clinical trials and the second day will focus on professional development of early career researchers.
Agenda Highlights
Day One
Day one will focus on clinical trials featuring inspiring speakers discussing innovative approaches to conduct trials with pregnant people, children, and youth. Featured speakers include: Lawrence Mbuagbaw (Removing Tribulations from Trials with Pilot & Feasibility Designs), Alexandra King and Phoebe Fosseneuve (Indigenous Child Health), and Srinivas Murthy (Innovative Approaches to Clinical Trials).
Day Two
Day two will dive into professional development, providing essential tools to support your research career and a keynote lecture regarding vaccine development. Featured speakers include: Delores Mullings (Anti-Black Racism in Child Health Research), Robert Connelly (A Path Towards Great Presentations), and Simon Drysdale (Revolutionizing RSV Prevention for Our Babies).
Day two will also feature interactive scenarios designed to immerse participants in real-world scenarios in grant writing, collaboration and peer review in research.
Vaccinology Student Research Program
The VSRP provides students and trainees with the opportunity to present their research supporting the scientific foundation of optimal immunization programs and network with individuals across Canada who support vaccine research and immunization program development, evaluation and training.
2024 Canadian Immunization Conference
The Canadian Immunization Conference
The 2024 Canadian Immunization Conference aims to inspire and challenge participants to help shape the future of Canada’s vaccination research, policies and programs.
Download the Final Program and review the CIC 2024 sessions. The conference will feature four plenaries and over 30 concurrent sessions that include symposiums, workshops, and oral presentations. Two dedicated poster sessions will feature over 140 presenters.
2024 CAIRE Research Symposium
Equity Considerations in Immunization Research, Evaluation, and Education
The objective of the meeting is to discuss how to better incorporate equity considerations in vaccine research, including how to measure and use EDI data in different study designs, how to embrace EDI on research teams, and how to ensure our research integrates community perspectives of under-represented populations. Speakers include researchers with diverse methodological approaches and/or experience working with diverse communities, as well as community representatives with experience working with researchers. In this interactive symposium, researchers can share perspectives with one another and gain new insights to refine protocols and strategies to advance EDI across the immunization research spectrum.
Organizing Committee: Dr. Shannon MacDonald, Dr. Tiffany Fitzpatrick, Dr. Catharine Chambers and Brynn McMillan

CAIRE-NCCID WEBINAR
Vaccine Safety Surveillance in Canada: Opportunities for Equity
Description
This NCCID-CAIRE webinar will feature experts from Canada who discuss different approaches to vaccine safety surveillance currently used in Canada. Our speakers, Drs. Karina Top, Matthew Muller, Naveed Janjua, and Sarah Wilson will discuss the strengths and limitations of these systems through an equity lens, and explore ways to address current challenges.
Learning objectives
Appreciate the different approaches to vaccine safety surveillance in Canada
Understand the strengths and challenges of these approaches when considering vaccine safety surveillance through an equity lens
Discuss areas where vaccine safety surveillance could be more equitable within the Canadian context
Canadian Immunization Conference
Join experts and thought-provoking speakers at the 2023 Canadian Immunization Conference for a scientific program that will engage and inspire future research, policies and practices.
Vaccinology Student Research Program
The VSRP provides students and trainees with the opportunity to present their research supporting the scientific foundation of optimal immunization programs and network with individuals across Canada who support vaccine research and immunization program development, evaluation and training.
“Protect your baby”: Discourses and perceptions of vaccination in pregnancy
This webinar is a part of the the Canadian Center for Vaccinology (CCfV) and Canadian Immunization Research Network (CIRN) Education Series.
We’ll hear from Dr. Terra Manca at Dalhousie University.
Building community partnerships in immunization research
Join this panel discussion held in partnership with CanCOVID to gain a deeper understanding on better practices for working with community partners & the value it brings for immunization research.
Shaping the global context: The role of vaccine research in Canada
The Spring 2022 Research Sponsor Advisory Board (RSA) Meeting will focus on leveraging vaccine research in Canada to shape the global context.
Research into action: How immunization research influences public health policy decisions in Canada
Canada has a long-established framework for immunization recommendations and policy decision making, which is informed by immunization research. In this webinar we’ll explore the process of how immunization policy decisions are made in Canada and effective knowledge translation strategies researchers can use to inform policy decisions in Canada.
Human Challenge Trials: Moving Vaccine Development Forward?
In human challenge trials, healthy, typically young, volunteers are exposed to infectious pathogens. In this webinar, we will explore explore the utility, challenges & ethical considerations for conducting these trials in the Canadian and European contexts.
